The document feeder supports 8 ½" x 14" documents. It should be noted that the maximum size the glass will support is 8 ½" x 11". I use this scanner to scan 35 mm negatives, photographs, and text documents. Photo scan output is superb and quick and if you are working with an original photo, you will be hard pressed to tell that the scanned output is not the original photo. This scanner has one of the best outputs I have seen with a resolution of 6400 x 9600 dpi and 48 bit color depth. Nothing that I have ever used comes close to the quality of Epson scanners. I have used HP, Microtek, and Umax scanners with great success, but I simply would not recommend any other scanner to a consumer. Whether you want to restore/preserve family photos or you just want to OCR a text document, the Epson Perfection V500 Office Scanner is the scanner to do the job right for you with superb results.
